Becoming a Person of Value
Introduction by Host: Dr. Gee
Albert Einstein once said, “Try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value.” In our world, we are so focused on success, but is that really what we should all be striving for? If a man as successful as Einstein believed that being a person of value is better, then how do we become people of value? Let’s discuss!
Point 1: Refine Your Uniqueness
There are two key steps to become a person of value. The first step is to refine your uniqueness. What is unique about you as a person? What sets you apart from the crowd? We all have people that we admire, but we cannot just copy them. Stop trying to be everything for everyone. Find what makes you unique, and embrace it.
Point 2: Produce Significance
The second step towards becoming a person of value is to produce significance. How do you produce significance? You make your skills valuable to the world. You prefer doctors who have specialized in the areas you need help with. They have skills that produce significance. Find out what skills you have, and make those skills valuable to the world around you.
Point 3: Declare Independence from the System
Before we can become people of value, we need to declare independence from the system. This is, in my opinion, the hardest thing to do in becoming a person of value. It is difficult to go against the flow of those around us. If you cannot declare independence from the system that you are in, you will become stuck and unable to innovate.
Summary/Closing Thoughts
“If you want to be effective in the world, you must become a person of value. When you become valuable to the world, they seek for you!” - Dr Myles Munroe.
When you become a person of value, people what to hear what you have to say. They want to invest in what you are doing. When you focus on the success, you will often lose your way. When you focus on becoming a person of value, your life will thrive!
