Q: What is your definition of success?
I think it is very subjective. Even my own view of success has change over the course of my life. To me, when I think of success, I think of the understanding of myself and what I am cut out for in life. It is a process more than a goal.
Q: What do you mean when you talk about spiritual intelligence?
I think that life is more spiritual than many people think it is. We all have a spiritual DNA or code, and understanding what has been encoded to my spiritual DNA is what allows me to give expression to what I feel. Who I am and what I do and what I am capable of in the spirit is important to know about myself. This understanding of myself is what spiritual intelligence is about.
Q: How did you reach the point where you knew what success looked like for you?
My spiritual sensitivity began to be shaped right after high school. I grew up in a religious home, but I never made it my own until after high school. I remember I was looking for colleges, and had a repeated dream where I was walking on a campus. I did not know where this campus was, but it was the same in every dream. I began to visit colleges, and eventually found one that I like, but wasn’t sure if it was right for me or not. Then I found the place where I had walked in my dreams. It was a perfect match. That was when I realized that God spoke to me in dreams.
Q: How do you grow your spiritual confidence?
I pray. A lot. And I don’t pray because I want God to help with or I need something from Him. I pray to build fellowship and intimacy with Him. When you pray in order to get something, you are not growing a relationship. In order be confident in who you are spiritually, you need to spend time in communion with the One who created your spirit.
Closing Thoughts
Every one of us, the mere fact that we are on this earth means we are destined for something. And all of us are destined for something different. Finding out what that is requires constant and conscious effort. Our spiritual lives are key to finding our purpose, and we will not have healthy spiritual lives without God. Make time to pray and grow close to Him, and your spiritual life will thrive!
